The two-time Asian champions qualify for next year’s finals in Thailand while Nepal crash out.
Post Report
North Korea hammered Nepal 11-0 in Thimphu, Bhutan, on Sunday to finish top of Group A in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers and secure their place in the mega event to be held in 2026 in Thailand.
The three-time world and two-time Asian champions dominated the match from start to finish, earning their third consecutive win of the campaign. They had earlier defeated Saudi Arabia 15-0 and hosts Bhutan 10-0, ending the group stage with nine points.
The heavy loss left Nepal with four points from three matches, following a 1-1 draw with Bhutan and a 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia. Nepal finished second in the group as Saudi Arabia edged Bhutan 2-1 in another fixture on Sunday. Nepal, however, failed to qualify for the Asian Cup as they finished last among second-placed teams.
North Korea will now prepare for the U20 Women’s Asian Cup finals, which will be held in Thailand next year.
