Post Report
The Tribhuvan University, the largest university of Nepal, will conduct re-examinations for students whose answer sheets were destroyed during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9.
According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations, exams held at centres in Anarmani in Jhapa, Chandranigahapur in Rautahat, and Narayanpur in Dang have been cancelled after answer sheets kept at local police stations were burnt when the buildings were set on fire during the protests.
The office said a new schedule for the re-examinations will be published later. The destroyed papers were from the Bachelor’s second-year partial and supplementary exams, affecting around 650 students.
Meanwhile, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has decided to conduct re-examinations for around 15,000 students whose answer sheets were burnt during the Gen Z protests.
Mahesh Bhattarai, member secretary of the council, said the re-exams will begin on November 20. He said over 15,000 answer sheets kept at various police offices were destroyed in arson incidents during the protests.
According to Bhattarai, answer sheets of 23 exam centres, including 15 in Bagmati Province and five in Koshi Province, were reduced to ashes. The destroyed papers belonged to students of diploma and pre-diploma level programmes, the CTEVT said.
